Does your solution include AI?
Everysens uses Artificial Intelligence in two essential elements of the TVMS: optimising transport planning and calculating the ETA.
RALF, the AI assistant, optimises transport planning. When the customer (shipper) enters an order into the platform, RALF automatically transforms it into a shipment corresponding to his needs. This shipment is then optimised by RALF: train composition, route, choice of carrier, etc.
ETA is calculated continuously throughout the journey. Based on wagon passage times at intermediate points along the route, the platform offers a regularly updated ETA, calculated according to the potential delay perceived at the intermediate point.
How does RALF suggest an optimised transport schedule?
RALF, the AI assistant, optimises transport planning for the shipper. The shipper submits a transport order on the platform, which RALF transforms into an optimised transport. This order includes the following elements: origin and destination, departure and delivery dates, and product to be transported. During transport optimization, RALF adds several elements to this transport order: train composition (type and number of wagons), the route it will take, departure and arrival dates and locations, and the choice of carrier. It is these elements that RALF optimises.
Several criteria are taken into account by AI when making this choice: types of wagons available, number of wagons available, availability of the loading and unloading site, availability of the product, availability of rail passage... Note that the main criterion remains financial optimisation. RALF always makes the most financially advantageous choice for the shipper.
Each shipment is optimised individually. RALF does not optimise individual transports, nor the overall planning. This means that shipment A will be optimised individually, as will shipment B and C. However, transports A, B and C will not be optimised in relation to each other within an overall transport schedule. Optimisation of this overall schedule, for example to limit the parking of empty wagons on site, is not currently within RALF's capabilities.
