The car letter by QR code - Everysens has done it!

May 4, 2021

As previously announced, Everysens has launched the consignment note by QR code. After having digitised the consignment note, Everysens wanted to go one step further by facilitating the creation of the consignment note - on the spot - thanks to a QR code.

As we announced, Everysens has launched the consignment note by QR code. Indeed, after having digitised the consignment note, Everysens wanted to go even further by facilitating the creation of consignment notes directly on the field thanks to a QR code.

A consignment note - what is it?

The consignment note is a contractual document between the shipper, the carrier and the consignee setting out the details and instructions for the shipment of a consignment of goods. This document serves as a transport order and proof of the transport contract. It is therefore a legal obligation for the shipper and the carrier.

A lot of information can be found on the consignment note - among others:

  • The company's contact details as well as your own
  • The mode of transport
  • Type of goods
  • The registration of the vehicle
  • The date and time of loading and unloading of the delivery
  • The prices
  • The amount of compensation if there is a delay

The creation of a consignment note can be particularly time-consuming if operators are responsible for the daily management of several railway undertakings simultaneously. There is therefore a risk of errors and some information being missed.

Moreover, with the exponential growth of international trade, companies no longer have a choice: equipping themselves with new digital and innovative solutions is becoming essential!

This is why Everysens decided to create a digital consignment note. Once issued, the consignment note is automatically shared with all parties involved in the transport - directly via the platform. This makes collaboration more fluid by centralising all documents on a single platform. Thanks to the consignment note, you will have access to a real-time tracking of all your transports.

Here is a feedback from one of our clients - Ciments Calcia. A major player in the French cement industry, Ciments Calcia has 10 production sites and markets 5.3 million tonnes of cement. This high number of sites and goods requires a structured and proactive logistics organisation. Until now, Ciments Calcia used multiple tools to communicate on their rail traffic. However, this was time consuming as information was shared individually with each stakeholder. To remedy this, they called on Everysens to work on the interoperability of their data:

We can initiate our transports, manage our entire fleet and analyse our transport performance on a single platform. Thanks to this centralisation of information, we can focus on operational excellence in our management processes. Nicolas Plouviez, Rail Logistics Manager, Ciments Calcia

A consignment note by QR code

As I said, at Everysens we are constantly looking for innovation. After launching the digital consignment note, we are now introducing the QR code consignment note.

A QR code will be affixed to each wagon. Once scanned, the transport tracking will be automatically sent to the Everysens platform. All data will then be centralised on the platform with live visibility of transport performance.

One scan and all information will be sent to one platform. This saves time and allows for general collaboration.

Adding the wagons to the consignment note by QR code greatly simplifies the creation of the document, as it can now be composed directly on the spot. This eliminates the risk of data entry errors and is a real time saver for us. Amadou Sall, Rail Logistics Coordinator at Eqiom.
